Expected result: the plugin is active and its settings are in Settings > Beds24 in WordPress.

Note: if your site is hosted on WordPress.com, you may need to upgrade your plan to install plugins.

Embed your booking page

Adjust the general settings for your booking page in the plugin. You can customise the booking page further in Beds24 in Settings > Booking Engine.

General booking page settings in the Beds24 WordPress plugin

Shortcode Use it for
[beds24-embed] A booking page with prefilled dates
[beds24-landing] A booking page that uses the dates chosen in a widget

Note: don't use [beds24-embed] if a widget redirects to the booking page. Use [beds24-landing] instead.

Add a parameter to the shortcode to choose what the booking page shows:

  4. Generate the code and paste it into the page source where the widget should display, with the WordPress editor set to Text.

Booking button and booking link

Paste these shortcodes where the widget should display:

  • Booking button: [beds24-button]
  • Booking link: [beds24-link]

For customisation options, see the Booking Widgets section in Settings > Beds24 in WordPress.

Developer options

Developers, or users with basic HTML, PHP and CSS knowledge, can change the plugin code.

Change the defaults of legacy widgets

Only use this if you can't use the widgets from the widget designer. Example: change the default values of [beds24-box].

Steps:

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Beds24 and click Edit.
  2. Open the file beds24-online-booking/theme-files/beds24-box.php from the navigation on the right.
  3. Make the change (see below) and click Update File.
To change Search for Change to (example)
Default number of guests if (!isset($_REQUEST['numadult'])) $_REQUEST['numadult'] = 2; if (!isset($_REQUEST['numadult'])) $_REQUEST['numadult'] = 1;
Default number of nights if (!isset($_REQUEST['numnight'])) $_REQUEST['numnight'] = 1; if (!isset($_REQUEST['numnight'])) $_REQUEST['numnight'] = 3;
Maximum number of guests <?php for ($i=1; $i<=12; $i++) <?php for ($i=1; $i<=4; $i++)

Tip: save the file in your theme directory so a plugin update doesn't overwrite it.
