Tripadvisor shut down Tripadvisor Rentals in October 2024. Since 30 September 2024, guests can't book properties on any Tripadvisor Group brand, including Holiday Lettings, Flipkey and Niumba. The connection details below are kept for reference.
The Tripadvisor Rentals API connection (Settings > Channel Manager > Tripadvisor Rentals) synchronised inventory, rates and, optionally, content between Beds24 and Tripadvisor Rentals.

Capabilities and limitations
- Create new listings and update existing listings.
- Send and update content and pictures.
- Export inventory and prices, and apply a multiplier to prices.
- Export changeover dates. Complex closed-to-arrival and closed-to-departure rules might not be sent.
- Import bookings, modifications and enquiries. Enquiries are imported as Request bookings.

Limitations:
- Only for Tripadvisor accounts that already have a connection with Beds24, or that are switching from another channel manager where they had an API connection. Otherwise, use iCal in Settings > Channel Manager > Tripadvisor iCal to synchronise availability and bookings, see Holidaylettings.co.uk.
- A listing can't be activated until Tripadvisor has checked the full location (address, latitude, longitude). After that, the location can't be changed.
- Tripadvisor doesn't support room types: the connected Beds24 room should have a quantity of one. To create room types for other channels, such as Booking.com, set up virtual rooms.
- Tripadvisor has specific rules for pictures, see Pictures.
Before you connect
- Beds24 only sends availability when you have prices that are active for this channel. See Setting Prices for Booking Channels.
- Upcoming bookings are imported automatically. If you previously imported bookings by iCal, they're cancelled when Tripadvisor sends a modification, and the modified booking is imported by XML.
- If you sell rooms individually on Tripadvisor Rentals but as a room type with a quantity above one on other channels, set up virtual rooms.
Connect Tripadvisor Rentals
Step 1: Ask Tripadvisor to connect your account
If your account is already API connected, contact Tripadvisor through the Tripadvisor rental support contact form with:
- Your Tripadvisor account ID.
- The email address registered for your Tripadvisor Rentals account.
- A note that you want to connect to the Beds24 channel manager through the Tripadvisor Rentals Content API.
- Your Beds24 account number (owner ID), in Settings > Account. Tripadvisor might call this the partner ID.
Activation is per Beds24 account, and all properties owned by the account can be connected. To connect a property in a sub-account through a different account, click the user icon at the top right, then Account Management (in the old control panel: Sub Account) > Manage Account > Manage Property > Channel Management, and set Tripadvisor Rentals XML Connect via Account.
Step 2: Map existing listings or create new ones
Map existing listings:
- Click View Listings in Account to see your Tripadvisor Rentals listings and their listing IDs. Tripadvisor also sends deleted listings; ignore them.
- Click view data from channel to see the content Tripadvisor Rentals returns for a listing.
- Select the matching Beds24 room and click Connect.
Create a new listing:
- Tick the information you want to send (Inventory, Bookings, Prices, Content) and click Save.
- If there are no content errors, a Publish button appears. Click it. If there are content errors, click Fix content errors to see the problems.
- After publishing, an Update button appears, and the new listing is listed under View Listings in Account. The listing can take a while to go live while Tripadvisor reviews it.
Step 3: Activate the sync
- Click View content sent to Tripadvisor Rentals and View Actual Data to check the information that will be sent.
- In Settings > Channel Manager > Tripadvisor Rentals > Specific Content, make sure Active = Yes.
- Tick the information you want to send (Inventory, Prices, Content) and click Save to start the sync.
To stop importing enquiries, set Import Inquiries = No in Specific Content. Changes to availability and prices are sent instantly; other settings go with the next update, see Updates and changes.
Prices
- Daily prices, or fixed prices with the Tripadvisor Rentals channel ticked and set as offer 1, are sent to Tripadvisor Rentals.
- Beds24 sends a room price, and only one price per date. A minimum stay can also be sent. If several prices with different minimum stays are active, the price with the lowest minimum stay is sent.
- Tripadvisor Rentals doesn't support decimal places in prices.
- In Specific Content, you can set the number of guests the price applies to, an extra person price, and a weekly or monthly discount.
Warning: Because of a bug at Tripadvisor, first set guests included to blank and the additional price to zero, then click Publish or Update. Once there are no errors, add the extra guest settings back and update again.
Price multiplier
To mark your prices up or down, or convert the currency, enter * and the multiplier, for example *1.23 (raises prices by 23%) or *[CONVERT:IDR-EUR] (converts Indonesian rupiah to euros). The multiplier applies to all prices and fees sent. See Price multiplier for all options.
Currency
Set the currency to send in Specific Content. If Tripadvisor requires a different currency from your Beds24 currency, use the Currency setting together with the multiplier.
Fees and tax
- Set the cleaning fee and security deposit in Settings > Channel Manager > Property Content > Room Content.
- Enter a tax percentage for taxes not included in the price in Specific Content.
- Some global settings can be overridden with custom values.
Content
In Settings > Channel Manager > Tripadvisor Rentals > Content Data, check that the content sent to Tripadvisor Rentals is correct. Tripadvisor doesn't allow email addresses or contact information in descriptions.
Warning: These can't be changed after a listing is activated on Tripadvisor: address (all settings), latitude, longitude, property type and bed configuration. Set them up correctly in Beds24 before you send anything.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
- Go to Settings > Properties > Rooms > Setup and click edit bedrooms or edit bathrooms.
- Set the type and use the selectors to define the facilities in each room. If you have several bedrooms or bathrooms, define them all.
- Close the pop-up and click Save.
Amenities
Set up amenities for the property (Settings > Properties > Description) or per room (Settings > Properties > Rooms > Setup). Amenities that apply to all rooms go on the property and are applied to every room; amenities that apply to one room go on that room. Don't create duplicates. For example, if all units have wifi, set it on the property; if only one unit has wifi, set it on that room.
- Click Edit next to the Features field and click Amenities.
- Tick the amenities you provide.
- Close the pop-up and click Save.
Tripadvisor Rentals doesn't support all Beds24 features, see Feature codes.
Languages
Beds24 can send only one language. Set it in Specific Content.
Pictures
- Choose which pictures are sent in Specific Content.
- Tripadvisor only allows the cover (first) picture in landscape format.
- Tripadvisor doesn't change pictures automatically. To change pictures, change them in Beds24, then ask Tripadvisor to review and update them.
Warning: Tripadvisor allows each picture to be used only once. In Settings > Channel Manager > Tripadvisor Rentals XML > Specific Content, set Pictures = Room. Then, in Settings > Booking Engine > Pictures, make sure each room picture is used only once. See Pictures.
Check that your data is complete
Go to Settings > Channel Manager > Tripadvisor Rentals > Content, or click View content sent to Tripadvisor, to see the raw data. Use the links on that page to fix the listing content. If you don't meet the minimum requirements, Tripadvisor Rentals might reject all data sent. View Actual Data shows the prices sent.
Feature codes
You can also add bedrooms, bathrooms and amenities by typing these feature codes, exactly as listed, into the Features field. Add features within a room after its room code, separated by a space. You can add several rooms.

Notes
- Tripadvisor collects the full payment from the guest and transfers it to you after arrival.
- After departure, Tripadvisor sends guests a review request.
- For support, contact Tripadvisor.
Disconnect
- Untick Inventory, Prices, Bookings and Content to stop Beds24 sending data and importing bookings.
- Ask Tripadvisor to end the connection.
