Stripe Payment Request

Send the guest a payment request so they pay directly to Stripe, for example for a telephone booking, or when EU 3D Secure rules mean the guest must make the payment themselves. The guest gets a link and pays the amount you set: a fixed amount, a percentage, or the full amount.

Prerequisites: a Stripe account connected to your property with the Connect to Stripe button.

Quick Guide

  1. Set up Stripe in Settings > Payments > Payment Gateways > Stripe.
  2. Create an Auto Action per payment you want to request, with a payment link in the message.

Step 1: Set up your Stripe account

Go to Settings > Payments > Payment Gateways > Stripe and set:

Setting Value
Connect Click to connect. If you have several Stripe accounts, make sure you connect to the right one.
Enable/Priority A number. With several payment gateways, it sets the order on the payment page.
Save all cards to Stripe Yes
Capture Yes: collects the payment at the time of booking on your Beds24 booking page
Payment Description, Title, Instruction Optional. See Stripe settings.

Step 2: Create Auto Actions

Set up several Auto Actions to collect different amounts at different times: a deposit at booking, a payment after the cancellation period, or a payment before arrival. Both examples below can be used for all bookings and meet EU 3D Secure rules.

Go to Settings > Guest Management > Auto Actions and click Create New Action.

Auto Action 1: Send a payment request for the deposit

Sends the request when the booking is made.

Tab Setting Value

Auto Action 2: Send a payment request after the cancellation period

Only asks for the payment once the 30-day cancellation period has expired.

Tab Setting Value
Trigger Trigger Event Checkin
Trigger Trigger Time -30
Trigger Time Window 30 days
Trigger Booking Source All. This applies to all bookings: direct, manual and channel. For different rules for direct and channel bookings, select Direct (manually created and booking page bookings).
Trigger Group Booking Trigger Trigger only Master
Trigger Status All not cancelled

Message Send Message Booking API/Smart Email

With Booking API/Smart Email, the message goes to the guest's email address if the Mail & Actions tab has a real one. If there's only a masked address, it's sent through the channel's messaging API if possible. With no messaging connection, it goes to the email address on the Mail & Actions tab. You can use template variables in both boxes.

Plain text box example, with a payment URL:

Dear [GUESTNAME],
To confirm your booking, a deposit of 25% is required for your stay at [PROPERTYNAME].
Please use the link below to make a payment.
https://beds24.com/bookpay.php?bookid=[BOOKID]&g=st&pay=groupbalance&pc=25
We look forward to welcoming you.
Best Regards,
[PROPERTYNAME]

HTML box example, with a template variable (you can also use the URL from the plain text example):

Dear [GUESTNAME],
To confirm your booking, a deposit of 25% is required for your stay at [PROPERTYNAME].
Please use the link [PAYLINK:25%] to make a payment.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Best Regards,
[PROPERTYNAME]
To request Use
25% of the (group) booking balance &pay=groupbalance&pc=25 or [PAYLINK:25%]
A fixed amount &pay=100 (100) or [PAYLINK:200] (200)
The full outstanding balance [PAYLINK:100%]. A percentage over 100% charges extra, for example for credit card payments.
A choice of Stripe and PayPal &g=st,pp

All parameters and variables: Payment request links and parameters.

Expected result: the guest receives the payment link, pays through Stripe, and the payment shows on the Charges and Payments tab of the booking.

Card details at Stripe

Each card sent to Stripe is saved as a Stripe customer, with the booking number as reference. Info codes on the Info tab of the booking show what happened, for example CARDTOSTRIPE or STRIPEPAYMENT. See Card details at Stripe and info codes.
