Make a room bookable only when another room is sold out, or almost sold out, with the Combination Logic of its dependency. For example, sell family rooms as doubles once the doubles are gone.
Warning: Test your dependencies thoroughly. Connecting one physical room more than once to a booking channel risks overbookings. See How to setup Room Linking and Dependencies.

Example 1: Family room sold as a double when doubles are sold out
A hotel has 2 room types: Double with a quantity of 10 and Family with a quantity of 2. If Double is sold out, Family is sold as a double as well.
- Create the rooms:
- Room type Double with Quantity = 10.
- Room type Family with Quantity = 2.
- Room type Double and Family with Quantity = 12.
- For Double:
- In Settings > Properties > Rooms > Setup, set Sell Priority = Hide so the room type doesn't show on your own booking page.
- In Settings > Properties > Rooms > Dependencies, set Use Prices from = Family and Double (Double needs prices for the availability calculation).
- For Double and Family, set:
- Requires Availability in = Double, Family (Double must be first).
- Combination Logic = Sum of all bookings.
- Assign Bookings to = First Available Dependency Room.
Example 2: Room bookable only when another room type is sold out
A hotel has 2 room types: Double A with a quantity of 10 and Double B with a quantity of 2. Double B is bookable only if Double A is sold out.
- Create the room types Double A and Double B.
- For Double B, set:
- Requires Availability in = Double A.
- Combination Logic = No Units must be available.
- In Settings > Booking Page > Page Design, set Room Order = Hide.
Example 3: Room bookable when fewer than 3 units are left
A hotel has 2 room types: Double A with a quantity of 10 and Double B with a quantity of 2. Double B is bookable only if fewer than 3 units of Double A are left.
- Create the room types Double A and Double B.
- For Double B, set:
- Requires Availability in = Double A.
- Combination Logic = 2 or less units must be available.
- In Settings > Booking Page > Page Design, set Room Order = Hide.
Example 4: Apartments sold as 1 or 2 bedrooms
An owner has apartments with 2 bedrooms each that can be sold as 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments: Apartment A1 (2 bedrooms) and A2 (1 bedroom), Apartment B1 (2 bedrooms) and B2 (1 bedroom). Apartment B2 is only available when Apartment A1 and A2 are unavailable.
- Create the rooms Apartment A1, Apartment A2, Apartment B1 and Apartment B2.
- Set the dependencies:
| Room | Requires Availability in | Combination Logic | Include Bookings from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apartment A1 | Default | Default | Apartment A2 |
| Apartment A2 | Apartment A1 | Default | Default |
| Apartment B1 | Default | Default | Apartment B2 |
| Apartment B2 | Apartment A1 | No Units must be available | Default |
- In Settings > Booking Engine > Booking Page, set Room Order = Hide.
Expected result: The dependent room only shows on your booking page once the condition is met.
