Connect the Hostelworld group (Hostelworld.com, HostelBookers.com, Hostels.com and Bedandbreakfastworld.com) to Beds24 to send your availability, refundable and non-refundable prices, and minimum stays, and import bookings automatically. Hostelworld prices and sells per bed: a double is two beds, a triple three.
Quick Guide
- Ask your Hostelworld account manager for a Beds24 connection and an API password.
- In Settings > Channel Manager > Hostelworld, enter your Hostelworld ID, API password and currency.
- Map your rooms and rates with Get Code, and set the number of beds.
- Check View Actual Data, tick Inventory, Prices and Bookings, and save.

Capabilities and limitations
- Beds24 exports inventory, multiple prices and minimum stays, and can apply a price multiplier.
- Beds24 imports bookings.
- Extra person prices can't be exported.
- Hostelworld accepts a maximum stay of 14 days.
- Hostelworld reserves inventory as soon as a guest starts booking. Beds24 can't close the room while a booking is in progress, even if the availability changes during that time.
- Hostelworld can send card details, but not the CVV.
- Beds24 imports only bookings made after you connect. Enter existing bookings manually to block the dates, see Existing bookings.
- Upsell items can't be exported.
For the full list, see Channel Manager Capabilities.
Before you connect
- Beds24 only sends availability when you have prices that are active for Hostelworld. See Setting Prices for Booking Channels.
- Beds24 can map a different price to each Hostelworld rate code. Hostelworld currently supports only refundable and non-refundable rates.
- Extra person and extra child prices, and discounts on the Discounts tab of fixed prices, can't be sent.
- If you use daily prices with an extra person price, set the daily price for the maximum occupancy and add the extra person price as a negative value, so the price for full occupancy can be sent.
- Private rooms: to sell a complete room, set it to a Private room type at Hostelworld. Beds24 still sends a price per bed, but Hostelworld only sells the room if all its beds are booked together.
- If you sell rooms individually elsewhere but as a room type with a quantity above one here, set up virtual rooms.
Connect Hostelworld
You need: your Hostelworld group property ID and Hostelworld API password.
Step 1: Request the connection and API password
Contact your Hostelworld account manager and ask for a connection with the Beds24 channel manager and an API password. Hostelworld tells you when the connection is enabled and sends the API password.
Important: use the API password, not your normal Hostelworld password. Changing the API password breaks the connection.
Step 2: Enter your codes in Beds24
In Settings > Channel Manager > Hostelworld, enter your Hostelworld ID and API password, set the currency you use on Hostelworld if needed, and click Save.
Step 3: Map your rooms
- Click Get Code next to the room type ID setting.
- Click the Hostelworld room ID you want to map to each Beds24 room.
- When the room ID is copied into the room type ID setting, click Save.
Step 4: Map your rates
- Click Get Code next to the rate plan ID setting.
- Click the Hostelworld standard rate for this room. Check that the rate plan ID is copied into the setting.
Step 5: Set the number of beds
- If the number of beds in the room differs from the maximum number of guests, select the number of beds. Use the same number as at Hostelworld: click Get the HostelWorld.com Room Codes for this Property Code to check.
- Click Save.
Tip: A double bed counts as 1 bed, not 2.
Step 6: Activate the connection
- Click View Actual Data to check the availability and prices Beds24 will send.
- Tick Inventory, Prices and Bookings.
- Click Save.
Expected result: Beds24 sends your availability and prices and imports new bookings. The connection works if you receive no error messages and Hostelworld shows the right availability and prices. Changes to settings go with the next update, see Updates and changes.
Price multiplier
For Hostelworld, add the multiplier to your hotel ID. For example, 123456*1.23 raises all prices for hotel ID 123456 by 23%, and 123456*0.85 sends 85% of your normal price. See Price multiplier for all options, including currency conversion.
Prices and rates
Which price Beds24 sends
Beds24 checks your prices in this order and sends the first one it finds as the bed price:
| Order | Dorms | Private rooms |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Single price | Room price |
| 2 | Double price | Double price divided by 2 |
| 3 | Room price, including the export price | Single price |
For a private room, the guest pays the bed price multiplied by the number of beds in the room.
Send daily prices
- Open Calendar, select the daily price you want to send, and scroll to the Hostelworld section.
- Click Get Codes, map the right rate plan code, and save.
- For several Hostelworld rate plan codes, create a separate daily price for each code and map it with Get Codes.
- To stop a daily price going to Hostelworld, open it, untick the box in the Hostelworld section and save.
Multiple rates
Hostelworld supports several rate codes; currently only refundable and non-refundable rates. Map a different Beds24 rate or offer to each, see Map channel rate codes. If you don't have the rate IDs you need, ask Hostelworld to add them.
Tip: Click View Actual Data to check the prices and availability Beds24 will send.
Manage Hostelworld bookings
- Multiple properties: each Hostelworld property needs its own property in Beds24. One Beds24 account can hold several.
- Promotions and special prices: Beds24 doesn't send them. Manage special offers in the Hostelworld extranet. A special offer there can also explain a booking price lower than the price Beds24 sent.
- No-shows: report them to Hostelworld.
- Notifications, modifications, cancellations, overbookings and missing bookings work as for all channels, see Bookings from channels and Troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting
Beds24 emails you any error Hostelworld returns during an update.
| Error | Likely cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Incorrect beds for Private room type | The beds available for a private room don't match the beds in the room. Hostelworld doesn't accept partial availability. | Set the same number of beds at Hostelworld and in Beds24. If that's not possible, use Number of Beds for the room in Settings > Channel Manager > Hostelworld. |
Rooms marked as <inactive>1</inactive> are inactive. |
The room is inactive at Hostelworld and can't be synchronised | Nothing to do unless you want to use the room again. Then add the room again at Hostelworld with the same settings. An inactive room has no availability and gets no bookings. |
| Property's currency doesn't match with the currency which allocation is being uploaded with | The currency in the Hostelworld settings isn't your Hostelworld currency | Set the currency you use on Hostelworld. Also check the currency in Settings > Properties > Description. |
| Signature Invalid | Wrong username or password, or the connection isn't active | Check the username, and that you entered the Hostelworld API password from your account manager. If both are right, ask your account manager whether the connection is active. |
| Non existing room type | You mapped a code for a room that doesn't exist at Hostelworld | Check your mapping in Settings > Channel Manager > Hostelworld. Only map codes that Get Codes shows. |
| Date ranges overlap | Two rooms are mapped to the same Hostelworld room code | Map each Hostelworld room code to only one Beds24 room. |
roomtypeid="1234" code= |
The room was deleted at Hostelworld, or isn't set up correctly there | If the room was deleted, untick Prices, Inventory and Bookings. If not, check its setup at Hostelworld. |
| Incorrect Price, Invalid rate plan(s) | An invalid Hostelworld rate ID is entered on the Channels tab of a fixed price or in the Enable list of a daily price | Select the right rate ID from the Get Codes list: on the Channel tab of your fixed prices, in the enable list of your daily prices, and in Prices > Channel Mapping (search for the rate ID and open the rate). |
| Missing Rate. Add a rate before adding beds | A Beds24 price has no Hostelworld rate ID, or a Hostelworld rate plan has no price | Select the rate ID from the Get Codes list on your fixed prices and daily prices. Check your Hostelworld rate plans: expired ones need a new rate plan ID for future dates. Map every active rate plan and give it prices. |
| 1112 - Rate plan not existing for given roomtypeid Invalid rate plan(s) for requested property |
You mapped a rate code that doesn't exist at Hostelworld | Select a valid rate ID from the Get Codes list: on the Channel tab of your rates, in the enable list of your daily prices, and in Prices > Channel Mapping. |
Disconnect Hostelworld
- Untick Inventory, Prices and Bookings to stop the synchronisation for a room.
- To disconnect the channel manager completely, you may need to ask Hostelworld to disconnect you.
